REFUTATION TO ABDUL HALEEM'S ARTICLE: CONTRADICTION IN RESURRECTION STORY PART 2

Recently  I had made a refutation to Abdul Haleem's Article regarding the supposed Contradictions in the Gospels about the Resurrection of Jesus. I will continue from where I left off and respond to all of Abdul's Claims that he makes.

Here is his Article:

Contradictions In the Resurrection Story

1. Matthew 28:1 states two women (Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary) came to the tomb; Mark 16:1 states it was three women (Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome); Luke 24:10 agrees it was three women but gives a different list of three than Mark (Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James); John 20:1 states it was only Mary Magdalene.
2. Mark 16:2 states "the sun had risen" at the time of this visit, while John 20:1 states "it was still dark."
3. Matthew 28:2 says "an angel" "came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it"Mark 16:5 says the women encountered "a young man sitting at the right" of the tomb (rather than upon the stone); Luke 24:4 says they saw "two men" who "suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing"; inJohn 20:1, Mary Magdalene saw nothing other than a moved stone.
4. There is also a discrepancy as to whatever dialogue occurred between this angel(s) or man (men) and the women: Matthew 28:5-7 and Mark 16:6-7 generally agree the women were told that Jesus (peace be upon him) had risen, and instructed to advise the disciples that "He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him" (Matthew 28:7), and ; Luke 24:6-7 contains no instruction to advise the disciples about an appearance by Issa in Galilee.
5. To whom did Jesus (peace be upon him) appear first: Mary Magdalene and the other Mary as Matthew 28:9 claims? Mary Magdalene only asMark 16:9 claims? Cephas (Peter) and then the other disciples, as 1 Corinthians 15:5 claims? Matthew 28:9 claims that Issa (peace be upon him) appeared before the women even had reported to the disciples what the found (or didnt) at the tomb. Also in Mark 16:9 the appearance to Mary Magdalene was before Mary made any report to the disciples. However, John and Luke report no appearance before the women  reported an empty tomb to the disciples.
6. Which disciples went to the tomb: Peter alone (Luke 24:12)? Peter and John (John 20:2-8)? Did the disciples believe the reports of the women (or woman) and proceed to Galilee, as Matthew 28:16 claims? Or did they disbelieve these reports as Mark 16:11 and Luke 24:11claim?
7. In appearing to the disciples, to whom did Jesus (peace be upon him) first appear: All eleven together (Matthew 28:17-18)? Two of them on the road, then to all eleven together (Mark 16:12-14 and Luke 24:13-31)? To ten of the eleven (minus Thomas) together (John 20:19-24)? To Peter, then the others (1 Corinthians 15:5)? The story recounted in John 20:25-29 is all premised on an appearance of Jesus (peace be upon him) before the disciples at which Thomas was not present! Matthew 28:17-18, Mark 16:12-14 and Luke 24:13-31 all disagree with John about any such meeting taking place in the absence of Thomas!
8. In Acts and the Gospel of Luke, the disciples were commanded to stay in Jerusalem and, in fact, met Jesus (peace be upon him) there (seeActs 1:4 and Luke 24:33, 47, 49). In Matthew 28:10 and Mark 16:6-7, the disciples are commanded to go to Galilee, and in Matthew 28:16-18, we are told they see Jesus (peace be upon him) there, not in or near Jerusalem!
9. Mark says that after appearing before the eleven disciples together in Gallilee, Jesus (peace be upon him) ascended to Heaven (Mark 16: 14, 19). Luke says Jesus (peace be upon him) ascended to Heaven at Bethany after walking with the disciples some time (Luke 24:50-51). John says Jesus (peace be upon him) appeared to the disciples at three times and that some of these appearances were near the Sea of Gallilee (Lake Tiberias) (John 21:1, 14). According to Acts the disciples were at Mt. Olivet, a days journey from Jerusalem, when the ascension occurred (Acts 1:9-12).
10. In 1 Corinthians 15:5-8, it is claimed that Jesus (peace be upon him) appeared to more than five hundred witnesses before his ascent to heaven - a claim directly contradicted at least by Mark, who says the ascension occurred immediately after an appearance before the eleven disciples (Mark 16: 14, 19).

Continuation from me, Osama Abdallah:
If these books were truly authored and inspired by the One and Only Divine Author, GOD Almighty, then we wouldn't see:
1-  Third-party narrations narrated by mysterious authors.
2-  Ridiculous variations and contradictions as clearly seen above.   Some Christians claim that these variations "compliment" each others.   This is absurd to say the least, because the contradictions of missing characters, events, and/or places are obvious, and the so-called "variations" only create confusion and further prove that they weren't authored by One Author (GOD Almighty), because we don't know based on the narrations above what really took place!  Different versions, different events and different contradicting accounts.

Only absurd and bias people would claim that this all from GOD Almighty!

Different and conflicting variations of "gospels" and "books" that are disagreed upon by the Churches today.

Let us Resume from where we left off:

17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

According to Matthew Jesus appeared to the Disciples.

12 After that, He appeared in a different form to two of them while they were walking along on their way to the country.13 They went away and reported it to the others, but they did not believe them either.14 Afterward He appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table; and He reproached them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He had risen.

According to Mark Jesus appeared to two of them while they were walking then to the 11.

13 And behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was [a]about seven miles from Jerusalem. 14 And they were talking with each other about all these things which had taken place. 15 While they were talking and discussing, Jesus Himself approached and began traveling with them. 16 But their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him. 17 And He said to them, “What are these words that you are exchanging with one another as you are walking?” And they stood still, looking sad. 18 One of them, named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, “Are You [b]the only one visiting Jerusalem and unaware of the things which have happened here in these days?” 19 And He said to them, “What things?”And they said to Him, “The things about Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people, 20 and how the chief priests and ourrulers delivered Him to the sentence of death, and crucified Him. 21 But we were hoping that it was He who was going toredeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is the third day since these things happened. 22 But also some women among us amazed us. When they were at the tomb early in the morning,23 and did not find His body, they came, saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said that He was alive.24 Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just exactly as the women also had said; but Him they did not see.” 25 And He said to them, “O foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!26 Was it not necessary for the [c]Christ to suffer these things and to enter into His glory?” 27 Then beginning [d]with Moses and [e]with all the prophets, He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures.
28 And they approached the village where they were going, and He acted as though He were going farther. 29 But they urged Him, saying, “Stay with us, for it is getting toward evening, and the day [f]is now nearly over.” So He went in to stay with them. 30 When He had reclined at the table with them, He took the bread and blessed it, and breaking it, He began giving it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from [g]their sight.

According to Luke Jesus appeared to two on the road.

19 So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and *said to them, [a]Peace be with you.” 20 And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord. 21 So Jesus said to them again, Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them and *said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.23 If you forgive the sins of any, their sins [b]have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained.”
24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called [c]Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

According to John Jesus appeared to 10.

and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.

According to Corinthians Jesus appeared to Cephas and then the 12

The answer to this question is that Jesus Did appear to the two then to the Disciples. No where do we see any of the authors saying that Jesus FIRST APPEARED to the eleven, Abdul assumes again that Just because the author says Jesus appeared to the Disciples then that means he must have appeared First. Again some authors cut outs scenes and don't include certain accounts of the story.Jesus appeared to the Disciples afterwards. And in regards to Jesus appearing to the 10 and then Thomas, eventually he did appear to Thomas, so there is no contradiction here at all, Jesus still appeared to the 11 Just not all at one time.

25 So the other disciples were saying to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”
26 [a]After eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus *came, the doors having been[b]shut, and stood in their midst and said, Peace be with you.”27 Then He *said to Thomas, Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.” 28 Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus *said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed?Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.”

So according to John Jesus appeared to the Disciples then to Thomas

The answer to this again Jesus still appeared to the 11 Disciples Just not all at once. Abdul assumes that when the Matthew,Mark and Luke say Jesus appeared to the eleven then that means he appeared all at one time, the fact is that Jesus did appear to the 11 just not all at once, I don't know if Abdul can count or read because Jesus did eventually appear to Thomas so since he appeared to Thomas then he appeared to 11.

No contradiction at all.

Let's Continue:

8. In Acts and the Gospel of Luke, the disciples were commanded to stay in Jerusalem and, in fact, met Jesus (peace be upon him) there (seeActs 1:4 and Luke 24:33, 47, 49). In Matthew 28:10 and Mark 16:6-7, the disciples are commanded to go to Galilee, and in Matthew 28:16-18, we are told they see Jesus (peace be upon him) there, not in or near Jerusalem

[a]Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for [b]what the Father had promised,“Which,” He said“you heard of from Me;

So According to Acts Jesus commanded his Disciples to Stay in Jerusalem.

33 And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found gathered together the eleven and those who were with them,

47 and that repentance [a]for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed [b]in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

49 And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

According to Luke the Disciples stayed in Jerusalem.\

10 Then Jesus *said to them, [a]Do not be afraid; go and take word to My brethren to leave for Galilee, and there they will see Me.”

According to Matthew The Disciples went to Galilee

And he *said to them, “Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him.But go, tell His disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see Him, just as He told you.’”

According to Mark the Disciples are to meet Jesus in Galilee

16 But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

According to Mathew again Jesus was to meet the Disciples in Galilee

The answer to this Question these are Different time Frames, the Disciples First met Jesus in Galilee and then they Met Jesus in Jerusalem. No where will you see Jesus telling the Disciples to FIRST MEET HIM in Jerusalem, Abdul once again assumes that Just because the author says that Jesus met with the disciples then that  that automatically means he met with them First which is again not being fair with the text.

14 Afterward He appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table; and He reproached them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He had risen. 15 And He said to them, Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.17 These [a]signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
19 So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.

According to Mark Jesus ascended to Heaven from Galilee.

50 And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. 51 While He was blessing them, He parted from them and was carried up into heaven.

According to Luke Jesus ascended from Bethany.

21 After these things Jesus [a]manifested Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and He manifested Himself in this way.

According to John Jesus appeared to the Disciples at the sea of Tiberias.

And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And as they were gazing intently into [a]the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. 11 They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into [b]the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the [c]mount called[d]OliveS, which is near Jerusalem, a [e]Sabbath day’s journey away.

According to Acts Jesus ascended from Mount Olives.

The answer to this Question is Both John 21 and Matthew 16:14 and so on are later additions, so these verses hold no weight to the Bible, they are not found in the earlier Manuscripts. So I don't Know why Abdul brought these verses up.

Now regarding whether Jesus ascended from the Mount of Olives or Bethany, the fact of the Matter is Bethany is actually situated on an eastern slope of the Mount of Olives. Go and take a Look at the Jerusalem Area on a Map.It's only about 3km walk. So technically they are both the same area.

For Example I live in Gatineau, Quebec in Canada, however it's near Ottawa the Capital of Canada and it's only about a 15 to 20 minute drive. And when People ask me sometimes I say I live in Ottawa because I'm so close and near the area.

The Mount of Olives in other wards is actually part of Bethany  and Bethany is part of the Mount of Olives.

No contradcition

10. In 1 Corinthians 15:5-8, it is claimed that Jesus (peace be upon him) appeared to more than five hundred witnesses before his ascent to heaven - a claim directly contradicted at least by Mark, who says the ascension occurred immediately after an appearance before the eleven disciples (Mark 16: 14, 19).

and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He appeared to [a]James, then to all the apostles; and last of all, as [b]to one untimely born, He appeared to me also.

So according to Paul Jesus appeared to more than 500 at one time then he appeared to the Disciples.

14 Afterward He appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table; and He reproached them for theirunbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He had risen.

According to Mark Jesus ascended after he met with the disciples.

Once again Mark 16:14-19 isn't in the earlier manuscripts so why does Abdul keep bringing it up. I don't really need to answer this question because Mark 16:14-19 isn't in the in the earlier manuscripts. However just for the you guys, I'll give a response anyways.

The answer is easy Jesus appeared to the women then 500 then the disciples. Mark even tho it's not in the earlier manuscripts, says that Jesus appeared to the Disciples and then he ascended and Abdul once again assumes that Just because Mark did not mention the 500 that Jesus met then that means he did not appear to them. And for the millionth time Not every author included every specific detail that the others have. No where will you find Mark saying that Jesus appeared to ONLY the disciples and then he ascended, Mark is telescoping and cutting out scenes in the story.

Of course we all know Mark 16:14-19 isn't in the earlier Manuscripts, however even with the later additions just for you guys I wanted to respond to Abduls Pathetic claims against the Bible.

I hope you have learned and God Bless You all
